Firm settles child support matter with DSS

Today the firm negotiated a settlement with the Department of Social Services who brought a child support petition seeking over $100,000 for reimbursement while the child was in its care. For the three years that the child was in foster care, our client defended against DSS’ neglect petition which was ultimately dismissed. At the first court appearance, the firm was able to negotiate a favorable settlement for our client which obligates her to pay a small fraction in retroactive child support over a protracted period thereby avoiding months of litigation.
