Ms. Khan graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University. While in law school, Ms. Khan was involved in clinics focused on developing advocacy skills pertaining to Family Law matters. Sumbal interned for the Honorable Judge Susan Knipps in the Manhattan Family Court. She also interned with The Bronx Defenders and advocated on behalf of parents encountering the Family Court system in relation to adoption, child custody, and termination of parental rights cases. Ms. Khan was a Legal Fellow at The Safe Center of Long Island guiding victims of domestic violence through the court system in relation to various Matrimonial Law issues.
